Universal Access to Media

CaptionMax created the Universal Access to Media (UAM) program to make possible a richer learning experience for K-12 students regardless of ability.

Check out the samples in the column on the right. Or for more information on each sample, please visit the Examples page. For a list of available titles and their distributors, click on the left menu item, "Product List."

UAM is rooted firmly in the principles of Universal Design for Learning (link opens in new window) or UDL as defined by CAST and other leaders in education design.

Our UAM services go beyond standard subtitles or closed captions and audio description tools to make educational media truly accessible - not just to learners with sensory disabilities but also to students with learning differences, attention deficit disorders, processing disorders, and others who benefit from alternative information input.

If you're an educational media producer or distributor, we may be able to make your programs accessible at no cost to you. Please contact us or send us a rate request and we will respond asap!

The UAM program is funded by two Federal grants from the U.S. Department of Education.
