Steve was born profoundly deaf in a deaf family. He was educated at The American University and Gallaudet University where he has multiple degrees in Education, History, and Psychology. Currently he continues a prolific career in deaf-related fields teaching Communication Studies; he was also recently the Dean of Undergraduate Studies at Gallaudet University. Steve has also served as a guidance counselor, mental health counselor, and career counselor for youth. Other leadership roles he's held include volunteer, mentor, consultant, manager, and public speaker.
Steve has written numerous academic papers related to deaf students and their relationship to schools, and serves on seven other boards that relate to disabilities and deafness. CaptionMax appreciates the depth and breadth of experience that he brings to our meetings.
