Gerald started in the captioning industry in 1984 and has been involved in all facets of captioning from the development of closed caption set-top decoders to the ancillary uses of Line 21 technology for interactive TV. His technical development enabled the introduction of closed captions for PAL home video releases in the United Kingdom. Gerald has received patents for his work in integrating automated transmission of caption data under library management architecture.
