Susan Schneider leaves WGBH to focus on sales for CaptionMax

Susan Schneider, who founded WGBH subsidiary Caption Center’s Los Angeles Sales and Marketing office in 1986, left the venerable Boston-based non-profit institution after 20 years to serve as the Business Development Manager for CaptionMax, a full-service media accessibility company headquartered in Minneapolis, MN.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Susan with us,” said Max Duckler, CaptionMax founder and President. “Not only does she know the industry inside-out, but she is such a fantastic person with a great sense of humor. Susan will of course bring her great relationships throughout the industry. More important, her technical savvy will be an enormous benefit to existing and prospective CaptionMax customers who plan on taking advantage of the awesome new technologies out there.”

Schneider stated, “in my 20 years in the industry, I’ve watched competitors come and go. I’ve watched how they do business and how they run their business. When it came time for me to make a move I looked in only one direction: CaptionMax. I have known Max, Donna, Gerald, and other members of the CaptionMax family for many years and am excited and proud to be a part of their team.

“The company is a staunch advocate for high-quality accessibility services,” she continued, “and I am looking forward to working with the staff to expand captioning and description services everywhere it is needed. I love how CaptionMax is always on the cutting-edge of technology and accessibility and how they think. For example they are inventing ways to make media more accessible than ever through grant awards with the US Department of Education. I look forward to being a part of that excitement.

“CaptionMax is growing in every direction, and the work that they are doing in the multimedia and Internet accessibility areas is absolutely incredible. It reminds me of the early days of captioning, except CaptionMax has all the new technology to go with a batch of bright young people to make things happen.” Schneider paused, then grinning at her new boss, continued, “like our tagline – everything is faster, better and nicer.”

At CaptionMax, Schneider will focus on selling CaptionMax’s services to network and cable companies as well as to Internet-based “new media” organizations.
