These shows are done live by a stenotypist or stenocaptioner. They are not typing on a standard computer, or QWERTY, keyboard. Instead, they type in shorthand, using combinations of keystrokes to represent the phonetic sounds. Computer software is used to translate the keystrokes into full words. The speed at which the stenocaptioner works to keep up with the live broadcast can contribute to errors. Also, if a word is not present in the translation dictionary, the computer will choose a close match. E.g. "Audi stock rose today" translated as "Howdy stock rose today."
