B.J. LeJeune

Director of Deafblind Programs, Mississippi State University

B.J. LeJeune is the Director of Deafblind Programs at the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision at Mississippi State University. She conducts training workshops on a variety of issues related to rehabilitation issues, and directs several research projects related to persons with hearing and vision loss. She has over 35 years of experience working as a rehabilitation teacher, rehabilitation counselor, teacher of Deafblind children, program evaluator, agency director, coordinator for blind students on a university campus, college instructor and researcher

As a Rehabilitation Teacher, one time Interpreter for the Deaf, and Deafblind Specialist, she is very aware of the critical importance of access to communications for everyone. BJ is also the founder and Executive Director of CARE Ministries, a national, interdenominational agency serving those who are blind, visually impaired, or Deafblind, and in that role, hears directly from consumers throughout the country about their frustrations, challenges and successes accessing all types of printed and audio/visual media. It is her belief that in this time of fast- moving technology changes, more opportunities than ever are available to access audio/visual media for persons with sensory loss. With this in mind, she is very interested in the work being done at CaptionMax, and the potential for universal access for all media lovers.
