Jane Cacich

Lead Teacher, EMSEC Vision Program

Jane comes to CaptionMax with an impressive resume. She has taught students aged birth to 21 and has developed programming to meet each individual student’s needs. She also has experience in teaching compensatory skills such as Braille and assistive technology and has particular expertise in working with students in the areas of transition.

For the last 10 years, Jane has been Lead Teacher of the St. Paul Vision Program where she is responsible for maintaining the program budget, hiring personnel, coordinating service among member districts, addressing issues concerning students and/or teachers among other duties. During the summer, she runs the Summer Transition Program (STP), an innovative 2-week residential program for students in the 10th and 11th grades from across the state.

In between all that, she also serves as an officer of Minnesota Division on Visual Impairment (MDVI), as Chairman of the State Vision Conference, and as member of the MetroSPLISE Low Incidence Work Group.

In her B.C. (before children) life, she and her husband served in the Peace Corps on Rotuma, the most remote of the Fiji Islands, four days by inter-island boat from the capital island of Suva.
