With an original start date of Thanksgiving Day, 1957, Marsha McLaughlin Radford was born and raised in Amherst, New York. She received her B.A. in Mass Communications/Journalism from St. Bonaventure University in New York, and went on to earn a Masters in Professional Writing degree from USC in L.A. in 1983.
Marsha has been a staff writer and price guide editor for Barbie Bazaar magazine and has also written for Millers, Ebay Magazine, Miniature Quilts, and Master Collector. Her ID guide to Barbie's li'l sister Kelly, The Kelly Green Book (1995-2002), is available at amazon.com. Along these lines as an expert/collector, she had the opportunity to appraise vintage Barbie doll collections at L.A. Times-publicized department store events with the late Glen Offield throughout the '90s, and she catalogued and sold the Virginia Stewart vintage Barbie Dolls and Clothing Collection on Ebay for $77,500 in 1998.
When not at home watching a plethora of movies stored on TiVo with her favorite Avid Editor/husband Richard Radford, Marsha has been known to take mom/son bonding trips with her only child, high school junior Tom McLaughlin, to faraway places such as Las Vegas, Seattle, and Buffalo. In fact, Tom M. is one of the original "caption babies" --a child who spent his first 9 months in utero while his mom merrily captioned away.
