Site Technician

GENERAL SUMMARY: Reports to the Director of Technology and Development. Responsibilities include operation, maintenance, and implementation of all technical resources of CaptionMax. Primary functions of this position are: general technical support, PC support, and network support.

GENERAL CRITERIA: Minimum two years of previous technical experience in information technology. Ability to handle multiple tasks, acquire new skills quickly, and communicate effectively with other technical and non-technical personnel.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

PC, Network, and Equipment Technology:

• Install and configure software.
• Provide various workstation support functions, from network troubleshooting, to hardware repair, to providing simple instructions on use of software.
• Test new software and hardware.
• Perform system maintenance and upgrades as necessary.
• Resolve problems with software and hardware.
• Inventory all equipment.
• Maintain backups of applications and data.

Technical Operations Center maintenance and installation:

• Install and configure VTRs, satellite equipment, and all associated devices.
• Maintain documentation for all equipment.
• Instruct Production Technicians on use and maintenance of equipment.

Other Support:

• Document all aspects of equipment use and maintenance; create new binders or manuals, as necessary.
• Provide support for all phones and phone systems
• Troubleshoot phone service issues.
• Provide support for all office equipment: fax, printer, copier, etc.
• Coordinate with vendors for equipment repair and purchase.
• All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive understanding of computers and networking. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues relating to broadcast- and computer-related hardware and software. Maintain a consistent attention to detail and the ability to effectively communicate accurate information. Ability to work flexible
hours and/or multitask to meet deadlines and departmental demands.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Two years’ electronic technical school, Associate or BS degree in Computer Science, Technology, or equivalent experience.
